THE UNWINDER'S TALL COMICS GRAND MONEY DRIVE

Hey guys, here's the story:

I could use some money right about now! It's almost Christmas, and I haven't bought any of my family any presents because I have no money! On top of that, my student loan bills are urgently requiring payment, and will go to collections (BAD) if I don't pay them. ADDITIONALLY, I have a certain present in mind for a certain girl, and that present is, (SPOILERS) an engagement ring.

You can help me out with this! I've put up a whole bunch of cool shoes and art and stuff at my Etsy store! If you buy some of it, maybe you can help me out of this problem that I am having, and make a pretty girl happy! Also, if you want to commission some different shoes, or really, anything at all, that's acceptable too! Also, if you want to just send me a charitable donation, that's fine too! Just contact me via email if you want to do any of these things.

The people over at Truth and Beauty Bombs have sort of a headstart on knowing about this, so I've already made a few sales from them, and am breathing a bit easier now. You can track the progress of this fund drive at this thread. I will try to start a similar thread in my own forum sometime tomorrow, but it's getting late tonight, and I want to go to bed.

ABOUT TODAY'S COMIC

I try to kind of say something about every character by the jackets they wear in Winter. Unwinder tries to stay trendy, and probably belongs in college. Barbecue Sauce is happy to wear whatever hand-me-downs come his way, and isn't all that self-conscious. Shadow has terrible taste in everything, etc.

It was trickier to come up with something for Felicity, because I don't even really know what the teenage girls are wearing these days. In the end I gave her a military surplus coat like the one I used to wear during my teenage years. I think it sets her up as kind of subversive, and also kind of tomboyish?

As for the dynamic between her and Unwinder, I had initially intended for them to be enemies, but the more I thought about it, the less interested I was in portraying the kind of adversarial relationship that only exists in fiction. Felicity treats Unwinder like a kid, and tries to mess with his mind in ways that don't work on a precocious kid like Unwinder. Unwinder resents this, and also hates Felicity's creative output. But that doesn't really stop them from chatting when they pass on the sidewalk.

Johnny Christmastree is another joint creation of Jeremiah and me. He's funnier when you try to make up Christmas carols about him.
